Frenchie Friday - April 26, 2024

On Sunday, we did an amazing 8-hour walking tour of Porto. It was jam-packed with info, but also in French so my brain was very tired after all the fun! This is our third time in Porto but the first time visiting some of the more touristy sites like Lello Library, Cafe Majestic, and many more sites. One spot I really apprecitated that I don't think is on a lot of people's list is the Stock Exchange building which is just gorgeous. I highly recommend it if you get an opportunity.

Yesterday, was the 50th anniversary of the Carnation Revolution in Portugal, an event that ended nearly five decades of dictatorship in a flourish of peace, not violence, with soldiers wielding carnations instead of weapons. There were celebrations all over the country.

It's strike season in France. They actually started a week early, probably the only thing the French are early for...yesterday the air traffic controllers started, and while it only lasted a day it is still causing havoc. May 1 is traditionally a big day for that. We are traveling Friday from Portugal to Paris, so fingers crossed!

On the bright side, Le Tour D’Argent summer rooftop is OPEN!

Speaking of rooftops, the iconic windmill on top of the Moulin Rouge collapsed this week, no injuries, but so sad!

I was not a fan of Barbie, but am a fan of Ryan Gosling and got a giggle out of this SNL clip from his recent hosting gig.

Pour Le Weekend...

We are supposed to get rain, boo. If it doesn't happen we are heading to Aveiro by train and then going to the Serralves Foundation to visit the Museum of Contemporary Art including the Serralves House, a beautiful Art Deco building from the 1930s. Every where you turn in Porto you can spot beautiful Art Deco architecture and influence, it's wonderful.

How about you?

Bon Weekend!

Frenchie Friday - April 26, 2024 Our last week in Portugal! The weather had been incredible this month until this week. It has rained on and off most of the time with a few windows of sunshine. We have made the best of it. It didn't prevent us from enjoying all the AMAZING food and wine! Today we head back to Paris and then Saturday I head home for a quick stop to do laundry before heading to Denver for a business event. Mr. Misadventures is staying in France another week. It's May, an...

Earth Day is Monday and I have a gift guide with some of my favorite eco-friendly products and sustainable...

Frenchie Friday - April 5, 2024 By the time you are reading this I will be on a plane to Paris. We are heading to Portugal for a month, bookended by 2 weekends in Paris. And of course, as I always warn you about, we have not 1 but 2 strikes to navigate through. Saturday there will be both a student-led demonstration at the sports ministry to denounce the removal of residents from student housing during the 2024 Summer Olympics AND the Gilets Jaunes (Yellow Vests) are back at Place de la...
